A very nice, very simple birthday!

C'mere little one!

And yes, the child is almost taller than me (just four inches more and it's over -she also steals my shoes - I don't expect that to last very long!).

We had a busy day but got to eat lunch together and then last night, Sandra, Marge and Katie took me out for crab. The restaurant was pretty bleh (we didn't know) but the crab was good and we had fun.

Then we came home to some presents and cake! What more could you want (except I wanted to go to bed early - what a dud!). Love you guys - thank you for a great birthday!

Hello? Can we come over?

We got a surprise visit from Gary, Coline and Cam yesterday. I guess they came down to take mom out for her birthday and popped in for a visit.

Have you ever tried to baby-proof your house in five minutes? A real challenge - especially when you have a home schooler that thinks nothing of leaving projects all over the house (with scissors and other non-baby appropriate items!).

But we hustled and even managed to get a little cat fur out of the way (because Coline is fiercely allergic).

Cam starting to do a good amount of talking and he's very "deep." We see signs of an engineer there as he thoughtfully explores the way things work. He's very methodical that way and not a spazzy baby at all.

Blowing out those 72 candles!

We had homemade shrimp tempura (her favorite), a cake Katie special ordered from Gayles (coconut and raspberry) and we played charades for an hour. Kind of looses something when one person has brain-fade (ahem, Mom!).

It was easy, fun and we pulled it off despite all the rain!

Happy Birthday mom!

Cupcakes Anyone?!

Katie made her first batch of cupcakes (from a box) and spent a good deal of time decorating them. You can read the whole story here in our Home School blog.

I have to say, they were pretty tasty and made for a good dessert last night!

Happy New Year! 2010!

We brought the new year in old lady style. Kept it simple.

But Katie became the main attraction at the party next door as she made balloon animals for the kids (she thought there were maybe 17 little guys there). They followed her around like Scott Calvin on the Santa Claus and if she stopped walking, they got in line.

"Please lady, may I have another balloon!" Clown college, here she comes!

Post Christmas Trip to SF

We wanted to get away for a couple days so we headed north to SF. We love San Francisco and didn't have time to go before. So we packed it in right after Christmas.

Everything still looked incredible and she skated and ate to her hearts content. The best meal was at Boudins at Fisherman's Wharf - eat upstairs. Great view, great food and the service was impeccable.

The hotel, The Handlery, spoiled the crap out of us. Bumped us to a suite with a great view of Union Square. They also had a gift basket waiting for us. Maybe they thought we knew Ronn Owens!
